A Night of Monologues for Black Lives
After the worldwide protests that occurred after the unjust killing of George Floyd, and the countless victims of police brutality, Act Now was founded, and organized we immediately organized our first event. The mission of this online event was to use theatre as an artistic outlet to spread awareness, share stories of a community in need, and encourage action for change and justice. We joined forces with SocialWorks and ChiArts to bring a one night only event of monologues to benefit Black lives.
Admission to the event was donation based to redeem Zoom code, with 100% of proceeds evenly distributed amongst: Assata’s Daughters, Black Girls Break Bread, Brave Space Alliance, GoodKids MadCity and Let Us Breathe Collective. The minimum donation required was $1.
SocialWorks generously matched the first $5,000 in donations.
